Earl D. Dickerhoof

d. September 22, 2012

Earl David Dickerhoof, age 95 of Paris, died at 10:22 p.m. Saturday September 22, 2012 at Bel Air Care Center.
He was born September 27, 1916 in Middlebranch, Ohio to William and Laura (Hinton) Dickerhoof.
A 1934 graduate of Middlebranch High School, Earl was a self-employed farmer and dairyman and member of Salem United Methodist Church for 56 years.
Earl's role in all of the inner working of the family was simply that he rode a bigger horse than most of us could saddle. He was a promoter, and encourager, and statesman, a pioneer, but above all he was a friend to all that knew him.
He enjoyed all his grandchildren and family, driving the work horses, listening to the Cleveland Indians and being helpful whenever he could. He was a member of Ohio Jersey Cattle Club and had served as district 8 president and was a past member of Ohio Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his sons; Gene (Pat) Dickerhoof of Paris, and Glenn (Elaine) Dickerhoof of Alliance; daughter in law Norma Dickerhoof of Alliance; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Roy Dickerhoof, of Canfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dale Dickerhoof, and his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Francis Dickerhoof, whom he married January 1, 1938, and who died April 29, 2006, one sister, Ruth Travis, three brothers, Paul, Ray and Carl Dickerhoof, and one granddaughter, Jodene Carl.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Neil Orchard officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 14113 Salem Church Rd. NE, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance Ohio.
