Earl D. “Junior” Haines Jr., age 89, of Marlboro, passed away Friday September 6, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. at his home with his family by his side.
He was born April 20, 1930 in Marlboro, Ohio to Earl D. Haines Sr. and Rose L. (Smith) Haines.
Junior graduated in 1948 from Marlboro High School, and retired from Phillips Machine.
He was a member of the BPOE Elks #467 and enjoyed restoring antique tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene M. (Mergenthaler) Haines, whom he married September 10, 1950; son, Lee Haines of Copley, Ohio; daughter, LuAnn (Tony) Sokol of Alliance; granddaughter, Emily Sokol; great-grandchildren, twins Layton and Gracey Roberts, and Maddie Roberts; and brother, Robert F. (Dorothy) Haines, of Marlboro.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Mergenthaler.
The family gives special thanks to Crossroads Hospice for their caring hearts and kindness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Dan Ginther officiating.
An Elks Service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, with visitation to follow from 1 to 2 p.m.
Interment will be held at Marlboro Cemetery.
