Earl A. Robertson

December 4, 1926 — January 17, 2021

On Sunday, January 17, 2021, Earl Robertson, the loving husband of Millie for 71 years and devoted father of four children passed away at Alliance Community Care Center at the age of 94.

Earl was born December 4, 1926 in Akron, Ohio to Albert A. Robertson and Mary E. (Clites) Robertson.

Earl was the last surviving graduating member of the class of 1947 from Atwater High School.  Earl worked for Sears and then Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, Ohio, retiring after 36 years in 1993.

He was a long time member of the Atwater Congregational Church, where he was a former trustee.

Earl was very active in his community. He became involved with the Atwater Fire Department during his senior year of high school and served several years as a fire fighter. Earl served 8 years in the Army National Guard, earning the rank of Sergeant First Class. He continued his love of all things military by joining the Marlboro Volunteers where he helped to preserve military history by participating in various parades and displaying historical military vehicles and equipment. Earl was proud to be chosen as the Grand Marshall of the Atwater Memorial Day Parade in 2019. He was a member of the Atwater Lions Club, serving in many capacities, including president.  Earl always had a love for farming. He grew up on a small farm in Randolph and enjoyed farming with his son, Wayne, for many years.

He will be loved and missed by his family, children, Wayne E. (Annell) Robertson of Atwater, Barbara J. (Robert) Mather of Salem, Linda J. (Alan) Flanigan of Suffield,  Cheryl L. (John) Locklay of Lake Milton; grandchildren, Clifford, Rachel (Steve), Brandi (Keith), Kresnt (Rich), Lindsey (Sean), and Kiley (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Patrick, Jeremiah, Helyn, Sarah, Sylvia, Brandon, Carissa, Hunter, Alexa, Ty, Trey, Taydon, Tyler, Kali, Kiersten, Kaidence, Novalee, Brekin, Trinity, Laney and Kai.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Millie, whom he married January 1, 1949; his parents; his sister, Shirley; and granddaughter, Megan Flanigan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Atwater Congregational Church, 1237 St Rt. 183, Atwater, Ohio 44201.
