Eda "Edie" Theresa (Fera) Perna, died at 10:10 p.m. July 12, 2011, at Alliance Community Care, at the age of 79.
She was a resident of Alliance, Ohio, since 1985, and a former resident of Sharon, Pa. from 1955, where she raised her two sons.
Mrs. Perna was born into a proud Italian family on April 29, 1932, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, the 8th of 8 children to John and Gaetana Fera.
Edie was employed as a receptionist at F. H. Buhl Club, Sharon, Pa. for many years. She also worked for Dr. Gary Roberts, Sharon, Pa. and at Carlisle's in Alliance, Ohio. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Alliance, Ohio. She was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance, Ohio, and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church in Sharon, Pa.
Edie was very proud of her family especially her grandchildren. Many family members and friends will remember her for her love and generosity, always welcoming them into her home, going above and beyond.
She married Quentin P. Perna, in 1955; and had a wonderful marriage for 47 years.
She is survived by two children, Frank Perna and his wife, Jene (Bupp) Perna and their children, Sarah and Hannah; Robert Perna and his wife, Jacqueline (Coccia) Perna and their children, Claire, Madeline and Nicholas. Also surviving are her two sisters, Connie (Fera) Bellsito and Theresa (Fera) Hordcychuck.
She also leaves many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ida Dudzenski and Lois Perna; brother-in-law, Henry Perna; and many friends she considered her family from Sharon, Pa. They were all close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin P. Perna; and siblings, Adeline Cerenzia, Marie Pettalia, Joseph Fera, Alfred Fera and Anthony Fera.
So many friends and family will always remember her love, kindness and generosity.
Her family would like to send a thank you to ALL the nurses at Alliance Community Care, who took wonderful care of her, treating her like a family member and Alliance Hospice for their care at the end of her journey.

There will be no calling hours; a private burial will be held at a later date.
