Edith Louise Merryman, age 93, of Alliance, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Community Care Center in Alliance.
Edith was born December 22, 1913, to Kirby and Delilah (Viner) Faubel. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1932 and received her beautician's license in 1935. She was a member of First Baptist Chuch for 80 years and was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a previous officer for the First Baptist Church Fireside Class, Women's Circle and American Baptist Women's Missionary Group.
Edith is survived by daughters, Margaret (Keith) Zurbrugg, Patricia Taschwer and Maureen (Richard) Held, all of Alliance, Kathy (Randy) Foith of Deerfield; and Debra Folk of S.C., whom Edith thought of as her 5th daughter; sisters, Jeane Cracknell of California and Janice (Bill) Peters of N. Canton. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and four step-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert C. Merryman, whom she married Sept. 30, 1940 and who died February 24, 1998; and brother, Roger Faubel.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
