Edmond J. Hartshorne, Sr, age 87, of Alliance, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Canterbury Villa.
He was born August 27, 1921 in Rayland, Ohio, to Andrew and Anna (Fetty) Hartshorne and lived in the Alliance area for 55 years.
Edmond was a United States Army Medic having served in World War II, received a Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory Medal, Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was employed by the Coca Cola Company and also by the former Lamborn Floral in Alliance.
He enjoyed fishing and especially spending time with his grandkids story telling and being outdoors.
Survivors include his children, Darlene (Tim) Shellenberger of Alliance, Cindy Hartshorne of Hartville, Edmond J. (Penny) Hartshorne Jr. of Mansfield, and Malissa (Bill) Gergel of East Rochester; six grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; one brother; and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donelle Hartshorne; 11 brothers and sisters.
Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery.
