Edward Paul Cross, age 83, of Alliance, died July 26, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital. Mr. Cross was born March 1, 1925 in Alliance, Ohio to Edward and Wilma (Smith) Cross. He was a graduate of Alliance High School. Mr. Cross was also the co-owner of Plajer and Cross Photography, retiring in 1986 and was a member of the First Christian Church, where he was a deacon, on the Church board and taught Sunday school. Mr. Cross was very active with sports programs at Alliance High School and Mt. Union College. A member of the Kiwanis club, and judged the Miss Ohio Beauty Pageant for many years, received the McKinley Fellow award from Mt. Union College in 2000 and supported the Carnation Festival. He was a U.S. Army Signal Corp Veteran during WWII and served in the European and Asiatic Pacific Theatre and recipient of four bronze service stars. Mr. Cross is survived by his wife, Helen J. (Tate) Cross, whom he married on June 4, 1950; his children, Mark (Diane) Cross of Lexington, KY and Matthew (Christine) Cross of St. Petersburg, FL; two grandchildren, Nathan Cross and Kelly Parker; and one brother, Ronald Cross of Alliance, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church, 1141 W.
