Edward Monroe Dixon, age 86, of Alliance, passed away at 8:55 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born February 16, 1928, in Alliance, Ohio, to Millard Monroe and Hattie (McNeal) Dixon and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
A high school graduate, Edward was employed as an oiler at Twinsburg Stamping Plant, Division of Chrysler for 44 years, until his retirement in 2004.
Edward was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Mount Olive Lodge for more than 50 years and a former member of the Al Kaff No. 109 Shriners.
He loved jazz music, and his job at which he never missed a day. He was an excellent provider for his family, whom he loved very much.
Edward was a United States Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Ford) Dixon, whom he married June 16, 1951; children, Anita Taylor of Flint, Michigan, Stephen (Elisabeth) Dixon, Annese Dixon and Zurka Dixon, all of Alliance; eleven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews; and a sister, Rosalie Austin of Alliance.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Peggy Moon; grandson, Shane Moon; two brothers, James Dixon and Joe Monroe; and a sister, Shirley Kirksey.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Williams of Feed My Sheep Ministries officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
