Edward E. Thornberry

Edward E. Thornberry, age 77 of Marlboro, died at his home at 1:38 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006.
He was born March 18, 1929 in Sandyhook, Kentucky to Dewey Preston Thornberry and Ivory (Gibson) Thornberry and lived most of his life in Marlboro.
Mr. Thornberry was employed by B&W at the Rush Street Plant in Alliance before retiring in 1989 from Diebold Company in Canton.
He also farmed and grew sweet corn for more than forty years. An avid bowler, he participated in various leagues and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Green) Thornberry, whom he married Oct. 23, 1949, two daughters, Karen (Dave) Kunkle of Tampa, Florida, and Judy (Steve) Greiner of Marlboro; two sons, Dick (Carla) Thornberry of Alliance, and Doug Thornberry of Marlboro; eleven grandchildren, Kami, Jason, Shawn, Derek, Tina, Steve Jr., Jill, Grant, Brooke, Henna, and Arundhati; nine great-grandchildren, Kenley, Kaden, Taylor, Brant, Shawn, Dillon, Sadie, Brendyn, and Tyler; three sisters, Loverta (Dan) Hall of Alliance, Loreta (Wayne) Lare of Alliance, and Connie (Arnold) Ball of Paris, Kentucky; and three brothers, Earl (Joan) Thornberry, David (Pat) Thornberry, and Ronald (Wanda) Thornberry, all of Paris, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Elmo, Edsel, and Eugene.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Crites officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
Mr. Thornberry's grandson Grant will play selected music with his bagpipes at both the service and the graveside.
