Edward Harris Phillips, age 86 of Canton, and formerly of Alliance, died at the Inn at Belden Village at 9:15 a.m. October 24, 2004.
He was born December 31, 1917 in Sebring, Ohio to Wilmer and Leora (Whinery) Phillips, and was a lifelong area resident.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he attended Mount Union College.
Mr. Phillips was the owner of Edward H. Phillips Plastering.
He was a member of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church and the Washington Ruritans.
Mr. Phillips was a W.W.II U.S. Navy veteran, having served as a radarman on the U.S.S. Batann aircraft carrier.
Survivors two daughters; Cindy (Bob) Hazelton of Beachwood, Ohio and Nancy (Bill) Prueter of Alliance, and three grandsons David, Nathan and Phillip Prueter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Kathryn (Bagley) Phillips, whom he married July 12, 1940 and who died Feb. 19, 1973, his second wife Ferne, and three sisters Irene Reynolds, Marguerite Siegenthaler, and Kathleen Gale.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. David Hostetler officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
