Edward F. "Toot" Wonner, age 95, of Alliance, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Essex of Salem.
He was born September 8, 1922 in Alliance to John and Elizabeth (Seiler) Wonner.
A 1940 graduate of Alliance High School, Edward worked at Alliance Manufacturing retiring in 1985.
He was a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines where he served in Europe during World War II from 1943-1945.
He was a member of Alliance Church of the Nazarene, Saxon Club and Alliance Senior Citizens Center.
Edward and his wife Betty enjoyed many Gad-About trips, and he also enjoyed bowling and was a life-long avid golfer
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Baum) Wonner, whom he married in 1977; children, Cheryl Mann of North Canton, Edward (Nancy) Wonner of Alliance, and Mitzi Howell of Toronto, Ohio; step-children, Sheri Kirkendall of Alliance, Diana Todd of Salem, Jamie (Ron) Huber of Houston, Texas, and Regena (Ron) Haidet of Alliance; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, David Lewis; sisters, Elizabeth Cosgrove, Mitzi Oprandi and Wilhelmina Wonner; brothers, John, Ben and Mike Wonner.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Davidson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Alliance Hospice, 2461 W. State St. Alliance, Ohio 44601 or to Alliance Church of the Nazarene, 1345 S. Arch Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
