Edythe Hornbeck, age 97, of Alliance, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Bel-Air Senior Living Community.
She was born February 17, 1915, in Leetonia, Ohio, to Wilbur Arter and Bessie (Barthalow) Arter.
A 1938 graduate of David Anderson High School in Leetonia, Edythe received her Bachelor Degree at Heidelburg College and worked as a home economist at Ohio Edison.
She was a member of the First Immanuel Church of Christ, Home Economics Club in the Alliance area, a twenty-five year member of the Lexington Grange, past president of the AAUW, and the Quaker Hill Hobby Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Karen (Edward) Galloway and two grandchildren, Ryan and Meghan Galloway, all of China Grove, North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Nena Petrick of Lisbon.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, PerLee Hornbeck whom she married June 22, 1941, and who died June 29, 2002; and two brothers.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
