Eileen M. (Hoebeke) Shuster, age 89, of Alliance, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Copeland Oaks, with family by her side.

She was born April 30, 1930 in Limaville, Ohio to George and Amelia (Krall) Hoebeke.

A 1948 graduate of Alliance High School, Eileen graduated from the Hannah Mullins School of Practical Nursing and Hocking Technical College in 1986 as a Registered Nurse.

She worked at Alliance High School as secretary to the assistant principal for thirteen years and at J.T. Nist Geriatric Center as an RN supervisor for seven years.

She was a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ, First Christian Church, where she served as an elder, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

An active member of the Alliance community, Eileen served as a Girl Scout leader for 30 years, with junior and cadet troops. She was a member of the Belleflower Garden Club, Pythian Sisters and Sandhi Club, which she joined when she was 16 years old. From 1994-1995, Eileen served as Grand Chief of Pythian Sisters for the State of Ohio.

Survivors include her children, LuAnn (Joe Tucker) Shuster, of Lakewood, Susan (Edward) Ochs, of Cincinnati, Cynthia (Thomas) Benjamin of Miamisburg, Douglas (Kelly) Shuster of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law, Susan Kahle, of Solon; grandchildren, Andrew (Erin) Shuster, Benjamin (Erin Andreani) Shuster, Sarah Shuster-Tucker, David Shuster-Tucker, Amanda Benjamin, and Lauren Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Evan, Isaac and Alexander Shuster; sister-in-law, Mary Hoebeke; and her Shih Tzu, Addie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elwood H. Shuster, whom she married March 27, 1949 and who died January 17, 2006; her son, David Shuster; brothers, Kenneth, Leonard and Raymond Hoebeke; and many beloved dogs and other pets.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at First Christian Church with Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call the hour-and-a-half prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. A luncheon will be held at the church after the burial. Like Eileen herself, and in keeping with her wishes, it will be a joyful celebration. She had asked that her friends wear purple, her favorite color.
