Elizabeth "Betty" Davies Powers

Elizabeth "Betty" Davies Powers, age 86, of Beloit, passed away at 7:40 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Noble and Elizabeth (Clinton) Burris.
Betty was a 1948 graduate of Alliance High School and served as a teacher's aide for 14 years at Marlington High School.
She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1952.
Betty volunteered at Alliance Community Hospital and was an avid animal advocate. She enjoyed spending time at her home at Westville Lake with her family and feeding her ducks. She was an avid Elvis Presley follower. Christmas was her most special time of year.
Survivors include her husband, Myron C. Powers of Beloit, whom she married October 12, 1996: daughter, Jaime (David Blower) Stevens of Deerfield; two sons, James M.W. (Rosemary) Davies of Alliance and Scott N. Davies of Canton; two step-daughters, Denise Powers of New London and Betsy (Ronald) Caldwell of Cranesville, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Burris and Harry (Darla) Burris, both of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward J. Davies; daughter, Robyn E. Davies; grandson, Michael Wynn Davies; and a sister, Charlotte Bender.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Her service will follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Nancy S. Manner officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
