Elizabeth H. Rennels, age 92, of Hilton Head S.C. and formerly of Alliance, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday Dec. 16, 2007 at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah Ga.
Mrs. Rennels was born July 1, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to Robert J. and Elizabeth (Toy) Harry. She moved to Alliance in 1929, before moving to Hilton Head in 2004.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Mrs. Rennels received her Bachelors Degree from Mount Union College in 1936, and taught in the Alliance School system for four years at Liberty and Freedom Elementary Schools.
She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Alliance Country Club, Congress Lake Country Club, Alliance Womens Club, Coterie, Flower Garden Club, Congress Lake Garden Club, and Whist.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith Christina Rennels (Terry) Tolerton of Hilton Head S.C.; one son, David M. (Susan L.) Rennels Jr., of Hartville, Oh; five grandchildren; William Terry (Marci) Tolerton, John Paul (Leann) Tolerton, Christina Elizabeth Tolerton (Eric) Harrell, David Matthew (Jill) Rennels III and Katherine Elizabeth Rennels-Hineman, six great-grandchildren, Michael Terry Tolerton, Tristan Paul Tolerton, Kylie Ann Tolerton, Jackson Terry Tolerton, Ashton Jerom Tolerton, and James Terry Tolerton Harrell and two sisters, Dorothy Gibson of Salem, Oh, and Jean (Robert) McCulloch of Salem, Oh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, David Matthew Rennels, who died Nov. 9, 1994.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Presbyterian Church with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
