She was born November 9, 1926, in Orbisonia PA, to Herbert and Edna Scott.
Grace graduated from Altoona High School and Eastern Nazarene College with a nursing degree. While in Eastern Nazarene she met her lifetime sweetheart, John Courtright. They married in 1950 and for 64 years the loving couple was seldom apart. They shared the simple joys of homemaking, traveling and entertaining friends. Grace practiced as a registered nurse in the operating room at Union Hospital, Dover, OH and various private physicians' offices in Dover and Cambridge, OH. She retired as an industrial nurse from Babcock and Wilcox, Alliance.
She was an active member of the American Nurses Association; she regularly submitted Public Comments for revision of ANA Position Statements. She was an avid reader and was current on nursing and allied health issues.
With her husband John, Grace was a member of Eastern Star, Alliance Chapter 296.
In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, John M Courtright; brother, Glenn Scott and sister, Helen Lowe.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Ann Courtright of New Philadelia and Evie Courtright of Lancaster PA; and six nieces, Jeanne (Tom) Reese of Mont Clare PA, Susan (Robert) Weaver of Xenia OH, Rebecca Brown of Keenesburg CO, Miriam Echols of Wichita KS, Jane (Larry) Gallagher of Lakeland FL and Nancy (Richard) Bartlett of Magnolia OH.
The family would like to thank Rev. Aaron Echols and his wife Marian for their faithful pastoral care. The family would also like to recognize and thank Dr. Vrabel and the staff at Crandall Medical Center for excellent care and compassion during the visits of both Grace and her late husband John Courtright.
