Ella S. Griffin, age 99, of Sebring, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Crandall Medical Center.
Mrs. Griffin was born September 4, 1915, in Beloit, the youngest of the ten children of Swiss immigrants, Jacob and Magdalena (Burri) Stryffeler.
She was a graduate of Beloit High School and Salem Business College.
She was married to Robert A Griffin, May 20, 1940, who passed away July 20, 2004. They celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary in 1990.
Ella and her husband Bob owned the R.A Griffin Company and American Clay Machinery Company where she served as secretary/treasurer retiring at the age of 73. A resident of Canton during her married life, she came to Copeland in 2005. Previously, she worked at the Hoover Company and as a secretary/bookkeeper at the Edward R. Hart Company.
A member of the Trinity United Church of Christ of Canton, she was active in the married couples Sunday school class, Alice Mast Missionary Circle, and Bible study groups, and she and her husband were Youth Fellowship leaders. She attended Bethel United Church of Christ during her residence at Copeland.
Ella was a 50-year member of Chapter 170 Order of Eastern Star, 50-year member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter BL, Canton Women's Club, and golf leagues at Tam O'Shanter and Edgewood.
She loved to spend time with her large family, church activities, golfing, and dancing at various Masonic events.
She is survived by 19 nieces and nephews, including caretakers, Marilynn Mooney, Marcene Buchs, and Robert Buchs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Clara Carman and Nettie Buchs and seven brothers, William, Alfred, Harvey, Charles, Howard, Armen and Lawrence Stryffeler.
Ella will be remembered by family and friends for her generosity and her warm and caring heart. She was a gracious lady.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor David Parry officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mahoning Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
