Ellen Marie Lalu, age 62, of Alliance, died at 7:08 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011, at Aultman Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1948 in Ravenna, Ohio to Earl Ralph and Shirleymae Rose (Reber) Gardner and lived most of her adult life in Alliance.
Ellen Marie graduated in 1966 from Ravenna High School and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, George Lalu, whom she married Sept. 17, 2004; daughter Kyla (Steve) Benson of Louisville, son, Roy A. Tarbet III of Marion; stepchildren Jennifer Lalu of Deerfield and Kevin Lalu of Sebring; grandchildren, Courtney and David Sutherland; step-grandchildren, William and Emily Hoschar and Aydn Lalu; sisters, Linda (Ron) Hall of Edinburg, Tamera (Rick) Kraft of Akron, and Judy (Pat) Lepai of Kent; brothers, John (Chris) Gardner of West Virginia, and Joey Weideman of Rootstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Tonia; brother, Denny; step-mother, Faye Gardner; step-father Joe Weideman; and first husband and very dear friend, Roy A. "Sonny" Tarbet II.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Aultman's Palliative Care Unit and a special thank you to Dr. James Schmotzer who Ellen Marie thought the world of for the exceptional care and loving support.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St. Canfield, Ohio 44406-9274.
