Ellis L. Rounds, age 81, of Alliance, died at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born May 7, 1927 in Bond, Maryland to Salem Edgar and Stella Mae (Wilt) Rounds. He was employed by Sancap Abrasives and retired in 1992 after 36 years of service. A United States Army World War II Veteran, Ellis served in the South Pacific Theater as a medic and in the artillery battalion. Ellis was a member of the Freeburg Church of the Brethren, a former member of Pine Grove Church of the Brethren in Oakland, Maryland, member of the American Legion and VFW Posts in Sebring. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Betty (Cross) Rounds of Alliance, whom he married September 4, 1948; two sons, Rex Allen (Martha) Rounds and Boo (Stacey) Rounds; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including special niece Tammy Jo Ellsworth; and two brothers, Harold and Paul Rounds. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three sisters, Wilma Bittinger, Nellie Travis and Bessie Kerling; and six brothers, Charles, Gerald, Albert, Orval, William and Harvey. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Zellers officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S.
