Elmer Robert Buehler, age 90, of Alliance, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Community Care Center.
He was born March 10, 1920, in Sebring, Ohio, to Frank and Marie (Moran) Buehler.
Mr. Buehler graduated from Sebring High School and attended Ohio State Dental School. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter, and worked for Prudential Insurance Company for more than 30 years.
He also served as Washington Twp. Clerk for 15 years and was past president of the Alliance Salem Life Underwriters.
Mr. Buehler was a member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ, where he served on Consistory. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
A U.S. Navy WW II veteran, having served as a Pharmacist's Mate 1st Class; he was also a 32? Mason, member of the Sebring Masonic Lodge 626, member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Tadmor Shrine Club and Alliance Shrine Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan (Jim) Kinser of Homeworth, Jane (Bill) Fogel of Alliance, and Beth Buehler of Strasburg; three grandsons, Bryce Glass of Homeworth, Greg (Tonia) Glass of Beach, N.D., and Andrew (Sarah) Fogel of Gahanna; two great-grandchildren, Tristan Glass-Stark and Wyatt Glass; one sister, Dorothy Rarick of Alliance; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie Mae (Buxton) Buehler, whom he married Sept. 26, 1943, and who died Sept. 30, 2001; one grandson, Ryan Glass, and one sister, Betty Jones.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Mann officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Shrine Transportation Fund, P.O. Box 2626, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
