Elwood H. Shuster

November 14, 1928 — January 17, 2006

Elwood Harry Shuster, age 77 of Alliance, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006 at Akron General Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 14, 1928 in Alliance, Ohio to Harry Elwood Shuster and Margaret (Cook) Shuster and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Shuster graduated in 1946 from Alliance High School, attended Mount Union College for three years before graduating from the Wm. McKinley School of Law in 1953.
An Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Shuster also served as the City Solicitor (Law Director) for the city of Alliance, Prosecutor for the city of Alliance for three years and Associate Judge for the City of Alliance Municipal Court for 25 years.
He was a life member of First Christian Church, where he served as a past deacon and past trustee. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166 and past commander; member of the D.A.V. Chapter 50 and past commander and past district commander; member of the VFW Post 1036, and member of the Knights of Pythias.
Mr. Shuster served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters with the U.S. Army Engineers as a PFC during W.W.II.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen M. (Hoebeke) Shuster of Alliance; one son, Douglas (Kelly) Shuster of Cincinnati; three daughters, LuAnn Shuster (Joe Tucker) of Lakewood, Susan Consolo of Cincinnati, and Cynthia (Tom) Benjamin of Miamisburg; one sister, Evelyn (Lloyd) Barker of Alliance; and six grandchildren, Drew and Benjamin Shuster, Sarah and David Shuster-Tucker, and Amanda and Lauren Benjamin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, David L. Shuster.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 at First Christian Church with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
