Emil A. Brunner Jr., age 91, of Schaumburg, Illinois, formerly of Alliance, Ohio, died at 3:52 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at St. Alexius Hospital in Illinois.
He was born August 5, 1919, in Alliance, Ohio, to Emil A. Brunner, Sr. and Elizabeth (Daily) Brunner Holzer.
Emil attended Alliance High School and then Lincoln Agricultural School in Nebraska studying industrial management. While living in Alliance, he was a superintendent at Transue & Williams Assembly Department for 43 years until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He was also life member of: American Legion Post No. 166, BPO Elks No. 467 and the D.A.V. Chapter 50 in Alliance.
Emil was a member of the United States Army Air Corp. and was honorably discharged in 1942.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Brunner (Joseph Nowak) of Chicago, Illinois; two grandsons, Scott (Samantha) Brunner of Alliance and Steven (Tracy) Brunner of Sanibel Island, Florida; five great grandchildren, Brittnee, Austin, Evan, Jake and Casey; and two half-brothers, Ray Brunner of Alliance and John Holzer of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, La Rue Charlotte (Mann) Brunner whom he married in 1942 and who died in 2002; and son, Gary Brunner in 2009.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2010, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
