Ernest L. Craig, age 79, of Alliance, died at 9 a.m. Aug. 5, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born December 15, 1926 in Canton, Ohio to Dewy M. and Idah Mae (Tompkins) Craig and lived most of his life in Alliance. Ernest retired from SanCap after twenty-one years and was also previously employed at TRW as a security guard. He was a U.S. Army WW II Veteran. Mr. Craig was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife Nellie C. (Harris) Craig, whom he married June 11, 1949; children Cheryl A. (Larry) Werstler of Massillon, Linda D. (Gordan) Powers of Alliance, Michael E. (Cindy) Craig of Columbiana, Ronald L. (Kim) Craig of Homeworth, Nancy L. (Darwin) Zufall of Tampa, FL and Allyson C. Kovacich of Alliance and Edward A. (Penny) Craig of Alliance; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and sister Willa-Nelle Duff of Massillon. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, one infant grandchild and four sisters. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Payne officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday .Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
