Ernest A. Williams, age 90, of Alliance, died at 7:55 a.m. Aug. 30, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital. Mr. Williams was born Jan. 4, 1916 in Ravenna, Ohio to Howell and Cora (Wilson) Williams and moved to Alliance in 1946.
A graduate of Newton Falls High School, Mr. Williams attended Kent State University. He retired in 1981 as Vice President of the former First National City Bank of Alliance. Ernie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Alliance Lion's, American Legion Post 166, Boy Scout Troop 50, and Salvation Army Board of Advisors. Mr. Williams was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran, having served in W.W.II. He is survived by his wife, Mary Camilla (Yingst) Williams, whom he married June 7, 1941; one son, David (Ruth) Williams of Alliance, one daughter, Stephanie (Doug) Heesten of Cincinnati, four grandchildren; and one sister, Winifred (Glen) Swab of Niles. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Hookway and Rev. David Hostetler co-officiating. Friends may call from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday. A Lions Club Service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alliance Lions Club.
