Errol 'Butch' Welsh, age 67, of Alliance and Bradenton, Florida, died at his home in Alliance at 4:47 a.m. May 5, 2007.
He was born July 22, 1939 in Alliance, to Walter and Verdie (Miner) Welsh and graduated in 1957 from Alliance High School.
Mr. Welsh worked as a Golf Pro, teaching at Tannenhauf Golf Course and Atlantis Country Club in Florida. He retired in June, 1999 from Quality Farm and Fleet after working as an Assistant Manager.
He was a former member of; Lexington Ruritans, P.G.A. of America, past president of the Palm Beach Co. Horseman's Association, and member of the Sarasota Bay Boat Club. Errol was an avid hunter and fisherman, who also was a songwriter and wrote poetry.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and is survived by his wife, Linda (Smyth) Welsh, whom he married June 28, 1958; three daughters, Terri Porter of Mantua, Jody ("Pug") Duruttya, of Alliance, and Tracey Welsh, of the home; four grandchildren, Aaron, Clay, James and Paige; one sister, Bonnie (Jim) Myers, of Sebring, two brothers, Mont (Shirley) Welsh, of Alliance, and John (Mary) Welsh of Alliance; cousin, Karen (Doug) Waggoner of Alliance, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Eric.
Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Sebring Friends Church with Pastor Quint Bryan officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
