Ester Louise Hoover, age 83, of Alliance, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019, surrounded by her family at home.

She was born October 11, 1935, in Alliance, Ohio, to Malvern and Nancy Gladys (Bell) King and was a lifelong resident.

A Sebring High School graduate, Ester was employed as a cook at Perkins Restaurant for 36 years and had retired from the former Ponderosa Steak House.

She was a member of the American Legion Georgetown Ladies Auxiliary, West Branch Ladies Ruritans Club and Mile Branch Grange. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and coloring books.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Melissa (Jim) Dyke; great-granddaughter, Hannah Dyke; great-grandson, Dylan Dyke; sisters, Helen Gantz of St. Cloud, Florida and Olive Hensley of Alliance; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Shirley Logsdon; and adopted daughter, Lori Byers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Hoover, whom she married June 12, 1955 and who died July 27, 2006; daughter, Tanna Lee; sister, Marie Holsopple; and four brothers, George, Alan, Paul and Wayne King.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2019, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Moore officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, June 23 and from 10-11 a.m., Monday prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

Ester’s family would like to extend a special thank you to their neighbor, Carol Cobbs, the Rohrer family, friend, Terry Blickensderfer, and all the nurses with Aultman/Alliance Hospice with a special thank you to nurse, Diane Fotheringham and aide, Bambi Plauger.

The Clock of Life
