Ethel and Doc Reunited, never to be apart again.
Ethel Clayton, 91, of Alliance died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Altercare Nursing Facility. She has gone to visit many relatives, neighbors, and friends, who are with the Lord.
Born March 10, 1916, Ethel was a lifetime resident of Lexington Township. Ethel graduated from Marlboro High School in 1934 and attended Kent State University. She lived her entire married life with her husband Howard (Doc) in the home they built and moved into on their wedding day, December 9, 1940.
Ethel (and her good friend Marjorie Wolfe McCallum) worked for A.G. Reeves in the 1930's. She later worked as a cook for eighteen years at Marlboro and Marlington schools and had been a cook at Jane Francis Nursing home.
She was a housewife and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt. She loved working outside with her flowers and mowing.
Ethel was a member of Science Hill Community Church.
Due to illness, in 1994 Ethel moved to the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She sold her home on McCallum Ave. in 1998 and in April of 2004 she moved to Altercare.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Floyd and son-in-law David; nephews, Thomas Eugene Linerode and wife Bonnie (Saunier), Keith Alan Linerode and wife Barbara (Aldinger), of Marlboro, Phillip Mansel Linerode and wife Kathy (Houser) of San Antonia, Tx. Lyle Robert Linerode of Heath, Ohio; and niece Loretta Marie Linerode and husband Jerry Dickerhoff of Louisville; great nephews, Justin, Colin and Seth Linerode, and Aaron Dickerhoof; great nieces, Alicia and Amy Dickerhoof. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Sally (Clayton) Huff of Florida; nieces Quma Joy Lindemood of Florida, Janell Webster of Georgia, Barbara Vaughan Clunin of California; and nephews Kay and Kenneth Vaughan of the Marlboro/Hartville area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Etta (Fox) and E. Roy Linerode, husband, Howard (Doc) Clayton in 1985; brother, Robert Roy Linerode and wife Lona Bell (Dennis), special sister-in-law Mabel (Clayton) Vaughan and mother and father-in-law Lola Belle (Hoshour) and Dalton Clayton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral home with Pastors Jonathan Truax and Joe Peters co-officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
In keeping with Ethel's wishes, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent to the Science Hill Community Church, 12316 Beeson, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
She is not gone, she is with our Lord!
