Evelyn Ruth Denny

Evelyn Ruth Denny, age 88, of Damascus, went home to Heaven at 12:54 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012.
She was born November 7, 1923, in Damascus, Ohio, to Ray and Esther (Hoopes) Bardo.
A graduate of the former Goshen High School, Evelyn worked on the family dairy farm.
A member of Damascus Friends Church, Evelyn taught Sunday School for 35 years, sang in the choir, served on the missionary circle, and the social, funeral and flower committees. She also was a member of the Damascus Magazine Club, and the Merry Mixer Social Club. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her roses.
Survivors include her daughter, Louise J. Lautzenheiser of Damascus, son, David (Cheri) Denny of Salem; grandchildren, Lanette (Larry) Elasivich, Larry (Cindy) Lautzenheiser, Dale (Joy) Lautzenheiser, Marcie (Mark) Curry, and Philip (Laura) Denny; great-grandchildren, Jared, Cody, Mitch, Anissa, Ellie, Madison, Jesse, Anna, Julia, Leah, Luke, and Nathanael; brother, Earl (Virginia) Bardo of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Harold Denny, whom she married June 10, 1942, and who passed away January 12, 2012; and son-in-law, Dean Lautzenheiser.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor John Ryser officiating and Pastor Rick Brendlinger assisting. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be at Damascus Cemetery.
