Evelyn M. DeWitt, age 82, of Sebring, formerly of Canton, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born May 22, 1927 in Canton, Ohio to Tom R. and Florence (Maier) Nevius.
Evelyn was a hostess at the Fulton house in Canton, and was formerly employed by the Bon Marche clothing store.
She attended Franklin Square United Methodist Church and enjoyed doing crafts, loved to square dance, and dance on roller skates.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue A. (Enzie) Wade of New Garden, Ohio; her son, Fred T. Russell of Salem; two granddaughters, Kim (Robert Lewis) Markopoulos of Northfield Village, Oh. and Melissa (Sean) Stranger of Canton; four great-grandchildren, Nickolas, Noah, Rebekah and Rachel; one sister, Barbara Stagnitti of Winterpark, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orland J. DeWitt who died in April 1986; three sisters; and one brother.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Enzie Wade officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery in Alliance.
