Evelyn Ickes, age 90, of Alliance, passed away at 6:45 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Alliance Community Care Center.
She was born May 23, 1924 in Maximo, Ohio to Mary E. (Betz) and Elgie E. Bowman.
Evelyn was a graduate of Alliance High School.
A sociable, outgoing, loving person, Evelyn enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, Elks Widows Club, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 166.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Tina) Ickes, Ronald (Shirley) Ickes both of Alliance; Dwight "Doug" (Mary Kay) of Stow; Tom (Dennis) Ickes of Fort Royal, VA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolly (Ed) Witherspoon and Hazel Moser, both of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Freeman Ickes, who she married in 1944; brother, Harvey Bowman and step-brother, Wade Conrad.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Moultrie Cemetery.
