Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Evelyn Louise Burbick Yaggi, of Beloit, Ohio, passed away September 20, 2023, at the age of 97.
She was born August 20, 1926, in Beloit, daughter of Orville Burbick and Emma Brunner Burbick.
Evelyn was a soft-spoken, patient, and kindhearted person who cared for her family, her community, and those in need. She was a member of the West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club, and she volunteered at the Knox Elementary School library. Evelyn served as a poll worker for the Columbiana County Board of Elections for over 50 years.
Evelyn was a dedicated Christian woman, and she instilled these values in her family. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, where she played in the bell choir and volunteered at the food pantry.
Baking was Evelyn’s forte, especially her pies and cookies. She was always baking and donating these sweets for charitable organization fundraisers. At Christmas, she made many kinds of cookies and gave them as gifts. Her grandchildren especially delighted in going to Grandma’s and seeing the table full of perfectly made, delicious treats.
Evelyn was hard working all her life. At one time, she farmed, raised chickens and sold eggs. She always had a garden and loved tending it. Later, she was an office assistant for Dr. Kibler. Evelyn also babysat for her grandchildren and others.
Traveling was a favorite leisure activity, and Evelyn enjoyed taking bus trips. She also liked visiting Amish country for a good meal and shopping. Evelyn took pride in her ever-growing collection of angel figurines. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Glenn) Borkowski of East Canton, OH; son, Michael (Debra) Yaggi of Batavia, OH; grandchildren Casey French, Zachary Yaggi, Christopher Yaggi, and Joshua Yaggi; and three great-grandchildren.
