Flora J. Black

Flora J. Black, age 83, of Alliance, passed away at 10:50 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

She was born July 19, 1936, in Mount Hope, West Virginia to Alexander P. and Ruth (Lewis) Payne.

Flora was a 1954 graduate of Dubois High School. She was a member of the Zion Church in Alliance and was a caretaker to many of her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Rose Black of Cincinnati, Deborah (Robert) Young of Alliance, Devon (Marion) Patterson of Phoenix, Arizona, Chris (Christina) Black, Michael (Angela) Black and Stephen (Aubrey) Black, all of Alliance; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Neola Jones of Cleveland; brother, Hezekiah Payne of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Black whom she married September 9, 1955 and who died September 4, 1967; daughter, Pamela Black; son, Ernest Black; and siblings, Alex, Ruth, Andrew, Burley, Lonnie, Norman, Edithann, Carl and Butch.

A memorial service will be held at Noon on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Willie Bell officiating.
