Floyd Scott "Red" Makin, age 87, of Salem, formerly of Homeworth passed away at 3:30 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at Sterling House of Salem.
He was born January 12, 1922 in Alliance to Emanual and Daisy (Wilson) Makin and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
Red retired from the oil fields as a well manager. He was a United States Army veteran and was a life member of the DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Helen C. (Williams) Makin of Salem, whom he married June 26, 1942; sons, Harold "Sonny" Makin of Alliance and Roy (Mary) Makin of Tuscon, Arizona; daughter, Cathy (Charles) Wilson of Diamond; grandchildren, Richard (Pam) Makin, Michael Makin and companion, Sandy Smith, Jessie Beckett and companion, Michael Westfall, June Beckett, Douglas Scott (Mishwana) Makin, Charlotte (Jason) Miller and Cheryl Hodge; 7 great-granddaughters; 1 niece; and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Makin; a niece, Donna Jean Eakin, and a daughter-in-law, Ellen Makin.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Sterling House of Salem, 1916 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem, Ohio 44460. Condolences may be mailed to the above address to apartment 207.
