Floyd Barnard "Spike" Roose, age 84, of Alliance passed away at 6:10 p.m. on August 18, 2009 at his home, after a year long illness.
He was born May 31, 1925, in Marlboro, Ohio to Minerva (Humphrey) and Arthur Roose and lived in Alliance most of his life.
Floyd attended South Amherst Schools where he played football and basketball. He was also of the Lutheran Faith.
"Spike" retired from Alliance Machine Co. after 44 and a half years and also worked at the Royal China Co in Sebring for eleven years and at Parker Hannifin in Sebring, Taylorcraft and Goodyear as well.
He was a member of the Conrad Lodge #271 of Alliance as a Master Mason. He was also an avid bowler, bowling the Classic Leagues for Lavery Chevrolet and Buckeye Village Market for years. He golfed, loved the outdoors, working in his yard, loved polka dancing and having a good time. Playing horseshoes was a favorite.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Kimberlee Roose of Alliance, his sons; Mark (Rhonda) Roose, of Alliance, and Timothy L. (Dory) Roose of Berlin Center; grandchildren, Dustin C. Roose of Alliance, and Harley D. Roose of Berlin Center; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolee and Terry Walker of Hartville, and a special nephew from Iowa, B.J. Lampe-remember, spot you 10-still no shoe.
Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan E. Roose who passed away May 23, 2007; his parents; five brothers, Ray, Bill, Chuck, Elmer, and Freeman (Sandy) Roose; and two sisters, Cora Hillman and Penny Roose.
Private family services will be held.
