Francis E. "Pico" Fernandez, age 65, of Maximo, passed away at 9:55 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center after a lifelong battle with muscular dystrophy.
He was born June 1, 1948, in Alliance, to Ezequiel and Bernice V. (Rupp) Fernandez.
Pico was a 1966 graduate of Marlington High School and worked at various jobs in the Alliance area.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed cross stitching, collecting model trains and visiting the Tri City Airport.
Survivors include his three brothers, Ezekiel (Mary) Fernandez of Alliance, Richard (Ella) Fernandez of New Franklin and Ronald (Jody) Fernandez of Alliance; and many nieces nephews aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Robert and a nephew, Bobby Fernandez.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. James E. McCurdy of the First United Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
