Frank Robert "Bob" McGrew, age 84, of Alliance, died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1929, in Alliance, to Sidney J. and Verla (Shaw) McGrew and was a lifelong resident having lived in Canton for nine years.
Bob was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and served in the Navy Reserves retiring in 1990.
He was a graduate of Alliance High School and Mount Union College. Bob was previously employed as a branch manager at City Savings and Loan Co. and also a scheduler at J&L Steel until his retirement in 1995.
Bob was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the BPOE No. 467 where he served as Past Exalted Ruler, the VFW and the American Legion.
Survivors include his son, Michael R. McGrew, of Alliance; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice (William) Sassman.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mona McGrew, whom he married November 6, 1961, and who died August 9, 2005; daughter, Micci L. Stansbury, son, Robert Jay McGrew; and sister, Ruth Fisher.
An Elks service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin immediately after the Elks service with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park at a later date.
