Franklin J. Charlton, age 80 of Alliance, died at Mercy Medical Center at 11:45 p.m. January 14, 2005.
He was born February 24, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to James and Estella (Kropf) Charlton, and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
Mr. Charlton graduated from Alliance High School and was employed by the former Alliance Machine Company as a Crane Erector, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Mr. Charlton was also a U.S. Army W.W.II Veteran, having served during the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre. He was the recipient of one Bronze Battle Star and one Silver Star.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peg" Swecker, whom he married May 25, 1950; one son, David A. Charlton of Alliance; one sister, Kathleen Powell of Cleveland; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Hookway officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
