Freda C. Oswalt age 94 of Alliance, died at 12:25 a.m. May 7, 2004 at Crandall Medical Center.
Mrs. Oswalt was born September 5, 1909 in Sebring to Sylvester and Mabel (Shewell) Crane.
She was a graduate of Sebring High School and was a lifelong Alliance and Sebring area resident. Freda also lived in Sarasota FL from 1988 until moving back to the area in 2003. She was formally employed by the Singer Sewing Company.
Mrs. Oswalt was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and member of Ladies Aid, Church of the Palms Presbyterian Church and Sarasota Florida Church Women United, and Extra Years of Zest Senior's Club.
She volunteered with the Salvation Army Christmas Doll Program; Migrant Children's Program, Carnation Festival Board Committee and made the Festival Grand Parade Banner.
Mrs. Oswalt was active with the Great Trails Girl Scout Council, Alliance High School Band and Choir Parents Programs and the Alliance Swinging Sixties Bowling League.
Survivors include her four children; Donald R. Oswalt of Sarasota Fl., Dale (Sandy) Oswalt of Sarasota Fl., Sandra (Richard) Good of Alliance, Sharon (Rev. David) Kowaleski of Orrville, Ohio, ten grandchildren; Steven Senft, Deanna Oswalt, Kendall Oswalt, Tony Durm, Tina Sadler, Ticia Phillips, Sarah Bolog, Ann Bolog, Ben Bolog and Brad Bolog, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Oswalt was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy Benjamin Oswalt whom she married Feb. 18, 1936 and who died Jan. 6, 1981.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. David Kowaleski officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society/ Stark Co. 925 S. Main Street, North Canton, OH 44720.
