Garry M. Grandy Jr., age 46 of Alliance, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2021.
He was born on March 31, 1975 in Plattsburgh New York to Garry M. Grandy Sr. and Dawn Burgess Grandy.
Garry owned and operated GMG Roofing and Construction.
A member of Faith Family Church, Garry lived his faith, he loved Jesus, he loved his family and friends; and was a man who overcame many obstacles gracefully to any and all he met.
The sweetest, toughest bad-ass guy you’d ever meet was also the most patient, generous, kindest man.
He loved going to the YMCA with his son Evan; riding bikes, especially his BMX, and taking his kids and skateboard to the Skate Park.
He loved animals, with his nickname, the Animal Whisperer; he loved video games, especially where he could safely race cars! He loved his toys, as his collection of hot wheels shows.
During COVID, Garry bought old TV trays which he converted to stands for the keyboards he reconstructed for his kids so they could have ‘music class’; as he loved music and playing his guitars and sharing that love with his children. They also enjoyed spending time at Walborn Reservoir with their paddle boat.
Always a happy person, Garry loved being fashionable, eating good food, and cooking for his family. He was crazy about his wife, Steph, and generous to anyone who needed a helping hand.
He will be deeply missed by his family, including his wife, Stephanie M. (Chilcoat) Grandy, whom he married August 8, 2008; his sons, Benjamin Hale-Grandy and Evan Grandy; his daughter, Maylee Grandy; his parents, Linda Allen, Dawn and Jim Doulin, and Garry Grandy Sr.; his sister, Sherry Grandy; and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life with time to visit and share with the family will be from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with a Memorial Service beginning at 5 p.m.
The service will be live streamed on the funeral home’s website at the bottom of his obituary page.
In Garry’s honor, memorial contributions may be made c/o Stephanie Grandy at Consumer’s Bank for trust funds for Evan and Maylee Grandy.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home 75 South Union Ave Alliance, Ohio 44601.
