Gary L. Combs, age 67, of Hartville, loving father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Louis Stokes Medical Center.
He was born March 29, 1942 in Alliance, to Millard V. "Diz" Combs and Bernice I. (Rhoads) Combs.
A graduate of Marlington High School, Gary was employed as a meat cutter at Stoll's IGA and later worked at Custom Poly in Alliance.
He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the UFCW Local 880 and the American Legion Post 166.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy (Ron) Newhouse and their children, R. Garytt, Wyatt and Chaisey Newhouse, all of Spring Hill, Florida; his former wife, Elaine Combs of Homosassa, Florida; his step-children, James (Kathy) Beebe of Massillon, Gerri (Bill) Kopp of North Canton, and Joyce (Ronnie) Griffin of Massillon and their children, Jimmy Beebe, Billy Kopp, Kristi Murray, Nick Kopp and Daniel Griffin; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray (Lynn) Combs of Ft. Mill, SC, Calvin (Cherie) Combs of Alliance; and four nieces and nephews, Bret Combs, Traci Richardson, Christopher Combs and Mandy Combs Eastwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
With regard to Gary's wishes, private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Akron Children's Hospital, 1 Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308.
