Gary L. Peters

Gary Lynn Peters, age 67, of Alliance, passed away at 8:10 p.m., July 6, 2018, at The Cleveland Clinic.
He was born August 18, 1950, in Alliance, to Jack L. Peters and Charlotte E. (Grunder) Betz.
A 1968 graduate of Alliance High School, Gary retired from Chrysler in 2009.
Gary was a veteran of the United States Navy serving honorably during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, the Knox Township Sportsman Club and the Alliance Elks.
Gary was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. During the winter, Gary spent his time in Sebring, Florida enjoying the sun and friendships of many. He especially loved spending time watching his kids' and grandkids' sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Schoeni) Peters, whom he married December 14, 1974; stepdaughter Shelly (Eric) Gibbons, daughter Trisha (Aaron) Dillon, both of Alliance and son Christopher (Jennifer) Peters of Perrysburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Whitney and Trevor Gibbons, Wyatt and Garett Dillon and Avery and Carson Peters; sisters, Jackie (Bruce) Havens of Canton and Anna (Chris) Voss of St. Mary's, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday July 12, 2018 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. prior to the service.
