Gene Leroy Dickerhoof, age 73, of Paris, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord at 9:01 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1940, in Marlboro, Ohio, to Earl and Dorothy F. (Anstine) Dickerhoof.
Gene was a lifetime resident of Washington Township. He was an Alliance High School graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a machinist on the U.S.S. Oriskany. He was employed as a machinist at Alliance Drop Forge and Ohio Electronics in Salem. Gene was a farmer and raised beef cattle.
He attended Salem United Methodist Church and was a member of the Homeworth Masonic Lodge. His hobby was rebuilding old tractors and his joy was working on his farm.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Miller) Dickerhoof whom he married February 20, 1993; two sons, Dan (Susanne) Dickerhoof of Homeworth and Doug Dickerhoof of Alliance; three step-sons, Raymond "Rowdy" (Monica) Roush II, Steven (Tammy) Roush both of Carrollton and Kirk (Becky) Roush of Paris; six grand-children; three step-grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Elaine) Dickerhoof and sister-in-law, Norma Dickerhoof.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Dickerhoof.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Salem United Methodist Church, 14113 Salem Church Road, S.E., Alliance, Ohio 44601 with Pastor Neil Orchard officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 5th at the church with a Masonic service to be held at 5:30 p.m. prior.
