Geneva R. Agnew

Geneva R. Agnew, 74, dearly loved wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, January 30, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. Geneva was born on May 11, 1942, in Geneva, OH, to Ivan and Opal (Craig) Carpenter. She married Richard L. Agnew on July 28, 1962. Together they had five children: four daughters and a son. Geneva was self-employed as a seamstress and house cleaner, a job she originally started to put her children through Christian school. Her greatest joy as a seamstress was designing, sewing, and altering wedding dresses, including all of her daughters' gowns. She was active in her church throughout her life and was lately a member of the Canton Second Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church.
She will be greatly missed by her family: her husband, Richard L. Agnew; children, Nancy (Mark) Burcaw of North Benton; Marsha (Robert) Anderson of Alliance; Crystal (Paul) Gingrich of Penns Creek, Pennsylvania; Christina (David) Geiser of Carrollton; and Richard (Marcia) Agnew Jr., of Escondido, California; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Paul (Sandy) Carpenter, Melvin (Barbara) Carpenter, Loretta (Glendon) Stroud, and twins, Velma Pasanen and Thelma (Wallace) Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at Noon Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Edwin Manners officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday and two hours prior to the service on Saturday.
Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery.
