George A. Tune, age 83, of Alliance, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1926 in Bernie, Missouri, to Lector L. and Bessie (Charles) Tune and has been an Alliance resident since 1956.
George was a Veteran of the United States Army Infantry having served in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the DAV Chapter 50 of Alliance.
A graduate of Albion College in Michigan, and the University of Michigan, he received his Master and Doctorate. He was a professor of Political Science as well as pre law advisor and chairman of the American Studies Department at Mount Union College and was previously employed with the public school system in Genessee County, Michigan.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane (Orr) Tune, whom he married September 15, 1951; daughters, Diane (Ted) Kerr of Ida, Michigan and Carol Tune of Tampa, Florida; and two grandchildren, Erica and Nathan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris Adams.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Marty Cash-Burless, Chaplain of Mount Union College officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
