George R Miller

George R. Miller, Major U.S.A.F. retired, age 94, of Alliance, passed away at 8:42 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Copeland Oaks Assisted Living.

He was born September 11, 1925 in Goodland, Indiana to George H. and Ruth G. (Gagnon) Miller.

A graduate of Calumet High School, in Chicago Illinois , George received his Bachelor of Science from Mount Union College, he went on to obtain his MBA from the University of Chicago, and graduated from U.S.A.F. Command and Staff College.

Enlisting at 17, George served his country as a career military officer.  He served in WWII, Korea, and the Cold War.

He was a member of the Union Avenue Methodist Church, where he served on many committees, including finance, and stewardship.  He was a trustee and also a member of the Men’s Club.

Following his military career, he stayed involved in military organizations, being a member of the Airforce Association, Military Officers of America and the American Legion.

Survivors include son, Bruce (Stephanie) Miller of Alliance; grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Anstine and Abigail Miller; and great-granddaughter, Maggie Anstine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Donna J. (Carlisle) Miller, whom he married June 1, 1951, and who passed away March 2, 2019; two sisters, Ruth Barbara Cimecoli, and Judith Ann (Miller) McClain.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
