George E. Monea, age 75 of Alliance, died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday March 23, 2005 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born December 17, 1929 in Alliance, Ohio to George and Sylvia (Stauffenger) Monea and was a lifelong resident.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Mr. Monea became a Pilot at the age of 16, and was a member of the Airline Owners and Pilots Association since 1960. His specialty was in Aerobatics and he performed nationally in air shows for many years.
He was employed as an engineer for Morgan Engineering, Alliance Machine Company, C.F. Simmers and Company, before retiring from Kerma Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Zamagias) Underwood Monea, whom he married May 22, 1970, son, Mark (Claudette) Monea of Alliance, daughter Kathy (Melaney) Jones of Alliance, brothers, John (Phyllis) Monea, Paul Monea, and Dave (Nancy) Monea, sister, Judy (Joe) Metzger, granddaughter, Allyssa Monea, grandsons, Chuck Melaney, Sean Jones, Cody Jones, and Jason Monea, and great-grandson, Austin Melaney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one step-son, Gary G. Underwood.
Services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday at the Alliance City Cemetery Chapel. Private family visitation will be held from 10:30- 11 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
