George L. Phillips, age 70, of Damascus, died at 5:47 a.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Pleasant View North Retirement Center.
He was born April 13, 1942, in Alliance, to Robert James and Ethel Marie (Coe) Phillips.
George was a member of the Alliance Nazarene Church and past president of the Residence Council at Pleasant View North. He loved to fish, enjoyed meeting and welcoming visitors to Pleasant View North and was very concerned about his family members.
Survivors include his sister, Phoebe Francis of Newark; two brothers, John W. (Judy) Phillips of Alliance and Paul D. (Debra) Phillips of Sebring; 19 nieces and nephews; 32 great-nieces and great-nephews, 10 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and several step-nieces and step-nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James Vernon Phillips and Weston Samuel Phillips.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
