George Roberts

George B. Roberts, 79, of Alliance died on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital. Mr. Roberts was born in East Liverpool, March 23, 1929 to George C. and Evelyn (Rickert) Roberts. George was formerly employed by Alliance Machine Company and retired as a Welder and Fitter in 1991. Mr. Roberts attended the Lisbon Baptist Temple. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and woodworking. Mr. Roberts was a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict in Germany. He was a member of the VFW Post #1036 in Alliance. Surviving are his wife, Joanne (Kannal) of Alliance whom he married on December 1, 1961; children, Rosann (David) Berlin of Alliance, OH., Marcia McCabe of Marietta, OH., Steven (Rachel) Bailey of New Franklin, OH., Barry Bailey of Paris, OH., Brad (Jody) Bailey of Atwater, OH., and Angela (Mark) Currier of Monroe, OH; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Beckett and Ruth Boggs, both of Alliance. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews and one aunt and one uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Sarah Roberts. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor David L. Powell of the Carrollton Baptist Church officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
