George P. Sutton, age 85, of Homeworth, died at 9:05 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1926, in Bergolz, Ohio, to Perry Sutton and Esther (Opp) Sutton.
George graduated from Minerva High School and worked at McCaskey Register and Alliance Drop Forge, in addition to being a farmer.
He was a member of the Alliance Salem United Methodist Church. George most enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to travel in the Great Outwest and enjoyed American Indian Culture and learning about it. A Nascar fan, who enjoyed going to Mountaineer, George had a great love of horses and was a member of the Stark County Trail Riders.
George is survived by his daughters, Denise (Andy) Downard of Paris and Cathy Miller and fiancé, Andy Wagner, both of Beloit; son, Phillip A. Sutton of Canton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Ina) Sutton of Alliance, Stanley (Nancy) Sutton of Homeworth, and Richard (Ann) Sutton of Minerva; and sister, Mary Fickenscher of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelley Ann Sutton; siblings, Jess Sutton, Arlene Sallee, Edna Browning, Annabelle Stinson, Marjorie Garmier, Maxine Ban and Robert Sutton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Alliance Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Neil Orchard officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Salem United Methodist Church, 14113 Salem Church Road NE, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
