Gerald B. "Jerry" Lare, age 77, of Tavares, Florida, formerly of Alliance, died at 8:40 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2010 at Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares, Florida.
He was born February 24, 1933, in Alliance, Ohio, to Burdette H. and Gladys H. (Schwinn) Lare.
Jerry was employed as a supervisor at American Steel Foundry prior to moving to Florida where he was a construction worker for 15 years and then worked for American Pioneer Bank.
He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran and member of the VFW in Barnhill, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Constance M. (Jones) Lare whom he married date, June 27, 1954; his children, Cheryl (Michael) Allen of Viola, Arkansas, and Kevin Allen Lare of Daytona Beach, Florida; three grandsons, Jerry and Christopher Allen and Spencer Lare; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Allen; brother, Richard J. (Alice) Lare; sister, Patricia (David) Balderson, both of Alliance; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Palmer of Pine Lake Christian Church officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
